Why a little order goes a long way
Clutter builds slowly. A pile of mail on the dining table, a closet that no longer closes, the reading glasses that are never where they should be. Over time, finding things takes more effort, and loose items on the floor become something to trip over. For seniors, a well-organized home is simply easier and safer to live in.
Light home organization tackles that one space at a time. Gina works with your parent, not around them, deciding together where things should live. The result is a home that feels calmer and where the things used every day are easy to find and reach.
Who it helps
- Seniors who want less clutter and an easier time finding everyday things
- Families helping a parent downsize or rearrange the home
- Anyone home from a hospital stay who needs the house set up for recovery
- Households buried in paperwork where important documents keep going missing
What an organizing visit includes
Visits focus on the parts of the home that cause the most daily friction:
- Moving frequently used items to easy-to-reach shelves, so less reaching and bending is needed
- Sorting mail and cutting down the paper piles
- Organizing bills, records and important documents into a simple filing system
- Clearing everyday clutter from counters, tables and walkways
- Tidying cabinets, closets, drawers and other small spaces
- Setting up small household systems, like one spot for keys and a basket for the remote
Simple systems that last
The real value is in the routines that stick after Gina leaves. A labeled folder for bills. A visible list of emergency contacts near the phone. A clear path from the bedroom to the bathroom. These small changes reduce stress and make it less likely that something important gets lost or knocked over.
If Gina notices something like a sliding rug or a dim hallway, she will mention it. For changes that need tools or installation, such as grab bars, she can connect you with trusted local tradespeople through senior care referrals.
Paperwork without the panic
Mail and paperwork are where many seniors feel most overwhelmed. Bills mix with catalogs, insurance letters get buried, and a needed document cannot be found when the doctor’s office asks for it. Gina sorts the stack with your parent, sets aside what needs action and files the rest in a simple system with clear labels. On later visits, a few minutes keeps the pile from coming back. Paying bills and making financial decisions stay with your parent and the family.
For families
Sorting through a parent’s belongings can be emotional for everyone involved. Old arguments come up, and decisions about what to keep can stall. A neutral, patient helper keeps the work moving and takes pressure off the family. Gina can send you a short update after each session, so you know what was done.
Organizing often fits within a wider plan of aging in place support, and after a hospital stay it pairs well with help at home after surgery. Some families also fold a few minutes of tidying into regular check-in visits.
What this service does not cover
This is not deep cleaning, heavy lifting or hauling furniture away. It is also non-medical and non-hands-on: Gina does not provide personal care such as bathing or dressing.
Planning an organizing project
Organizing can be a one-time project or a regular visit. Each session falls under the standard occasional rate, $120 for the first two hours and $60 for each hour beyond, which gives enough time to make real progress on a room. Larger jobs, like preparing for a move, are split across several visits. Families who want ongoing help often choose a membership for a lower hourly rate. See the pricing page, and use the free 20-minute consultation to describe the space you want to tackle.
